Now, when it comes to getting into schools at 7+ and 8+, it’s not just about testing what your child knows right now. It’s also about spotting their potential. They usually have to take a Maths and an English test. These tests check their basic numeracy and literacy skills. You know, stuff like understanding shapes, time, and money. They might need to know certain times tables and grasp things like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

English tests are all about writing, reading, and understanding what’s being read. Your child might be asked to write a cool story, read confidently, and use simple sentences with a smile.

Oh, and some schools throw in some quick reasoning tests too.

If your little superstar does well in these tests, the school might invite them back for a chit-chat, also known as an interview, and a morning of fun group activities. This is where the teachers get to know your child better and see if they’ll fit right into the school’s vibe.

For 7+ entry, these entrance exams and interviews usually happen in December or January when your child is in Year 2. So, no worries, we’re here to make this journey smooth and exciting for you and your child.
